Making repairs in the apartment, in one of the rooms I needed to figure out how to improve the threshold in front of the balcony. I decided that the most practical material for this would be tile. Since in the future I planned to insulate the walls with drywall, I immediately attached it to the glue from the side of the threshold. This had to be done right away, since the size of the tile had to be calculated taking into account that drywall would be attached to the wall.
We proceed to the installation of tiles on the balcony threshold
Since the door slopes of the balcony have already been made, at the bottom I glued masking tape so as not to stain and damage the slopes during the decoration of the threshold.
Next, I leveled the surface on which the tile will be laid. For the screed, I used cerasite glue. After roughly leveling the surface, I proceeded to lay the tiles.
At first I decided to fit three tiles to fit the threshold.
I had to cut a small part of the tile with a grinder with a diamond disk, so that the tile did not go beyond the size of the drywall, and was flush with the wall.
I also laid tiles on cerasite glue, kneading it with water, without adding cement or sand. You can stir it manually with a trowel, since this work does not require a large amount, or with a special mixer. Since I practically leveled the surface, I did not have to apply a large layer of glue to the tile. Using a spatula, I applied a minimal layer. When laying the tile on the threshold, it is necessary to apply the building level, and with the help of a rubber mallet, tap the tile a little in order to set it according to the level.
Unfortunately, I did not have special crosses and wedges for tiles. Therefore, I used improvised means so that the seam between the tiles was smooth.
Of course, in the case of large volumes of tile laying, it is important to use crosses to avoid bumps. I did not plan to seal the joints with colored putty, so they were filled with the same glue. To make the seam smooth, you can immediately, until the glue has dried, pass it with a damp sponge.
Thus, I installed 3 whole tiles (just such a threshold size). From one edge I had to use a small piece of tile. I put it on the right side, into which the door opens. This was done taking into account the fact that when you open the door, this trim will not be noticeable.
When installing the tile, I let the even part from the front side, and the side that I cut off the grinder was to the door. To hide irregularities, I installed a plastic plug on the silicone.
So, I ennobled the balcony threshold in the room. This material in my case is the most practical, since in this part of the room in front of the balcony there is condensation and dampness in the cold season. Because of this, a small amount of moisture (water) may form. Therefore, the tile can easily be wiped with a rag, and the material itself will not deteriorate from moisture, such as laminate or wood. It is also best to use floor tiles that are not slippery to avoid injuries.
