It is often required to drill holes in wooden workpieces strictly along the central center line (for example, in bars and boards - under dowels).

You can use a conductor for this. Using this device, you can quickly find the center in the workpiece and drill holes at a given distance from each other.

You can make such a conductor with your own hands from simple and affordable materials. To make the fixture, you will need plywood, an aluminum strip and a steel round tube.

The main stages of work

First of all, the author cuts two identical blanks from plywood and glues them together. In the center it will be necessary to cut a triangular groove.

After that, the author makes a marking and drills two holes on opposite sides of the cut groove. The holes must be through.

The next step is to cut two bushings from the steel tube. They must be pressed into previously drilled holes.

We cut two pieces of aluminum strip of the desired length and drill three holes in them. We fasten to the main part of the conductor.

After that, it will be necessary to fasten two wooden slats of square section to the resulting “paws”. Then it remains only to grind and paint the device.
