In this review, the author shows how to make an electric drive on a bicycle. For this, the author uses the engine from the car wipers. You will also need a piece of chain and a standard bike sprocket.
A battery from a screwdriver is used as a power source. Of the basic tools for work, you will need a grinder, an electric drill and a welding machine.
First of all, install an asterisk with a nut on the engine shaft, and scald. Welds are cleaned with angle grinder with a flap circle.
Then we connect the engine to the battery from a screwdriver and check the operability of the "system".
The main stages of work
At the next stage, the author cuts a piece of steel plate and drills two holes in it. Then the workpiece will need to be welded to a piece of corner.
We fix the resulting part to the engine housing with bolts. We drill a hole in the frame of the bicycle and fasten the engine with an asterisk mounted on it.
We connect the engine to the battery and display the on / off button on the bike handlebar. The master placed the battery from the screwdriver in the bag, which he secured on the frame.
Advantages and disadvantages
For the manufacture of the electric drive, the available parts are used: the engine from the car wipers and the standard sprocket for a bicycle, and the battery from a screwdriver.
Of the minuses, it is worth noting that switching the speed will not work, since the drive sprocket is occupied by the drive. Also, the battery will not last long, at best for an hour (and that is unlikely).
Therefore, this electric drive can be useful only on steep climbs, when it is already difficult to pedal. However, even here doubts arise whether there is enough electric traction to overcome the climbs.
