Many experienced craftsmen, for sure, will agree that working with a quality-made tool is much more enjoyable than with the old and "unkempt" one. In this review, we will tell you how to make a high-quality and beautiful hammer for a home workshop from the most common materials.
Of the basic materials you will need: a round blank with a diameter of 40-45 mm and a piece of pipe (it is better to use seamless).
The first step is to cut off two pieces from the disc at the edges. After that, the master cuts a piece of steel thin-walled tube that is suitable for length. Cut off from the disc "pyataks" must be inserted into the pipe.
You will also need to cut a small piece from a regular water pipe about 3-4 cm long. And then the resulting workpiece will need to be flattened a bit in a bench vise so that the round pipe segment takes the form of an ellipse.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, the master welds a piece of the water pipe in the center of the pipe with the strikers. The result is a practically finished hammer - all that remains is to figure out the handle and also give it an aesthetic appearance.
The author decided to paint the steel pipe red, and made the handle itself, made of wood, black. The result was an original contrast. By the way, inside the pipe you need to pour a little fraction for hunting cartridges.
