To make a miniature "version" of a combat tomahawk with your own hands, you will need a stainless steel bolt, as well as an anvil and a hammer for manual processing of the workpiece. With standard blacksmithing devices and a bugle, it’s easy to make such an interesting “toy” - there would be a desire.

Mini-tomahawk can be used as a decorative element or presented as a gift.

The main stages of work

The first step is to heat the hat and the top of the bolt in the hearth. Then we transfer the workpiece to the anvil and flatten the heated area with a hammer.

After that, we heat the “body” of the bolt and also flatten it, giving the hairpin the shape of a rectangular plate.

After forging, we process the surface of the workpiece with a grinding wheel, and then glue the paper template and cut out the contours of the future ax with a grinder. The template can be drawn by hand, fitting it to the size of the workpiece.

We bring the cut-out part on a belt-grinding machine, since with the help of angle grinders it is impossible to repeat all the bends smoothly. Then you will have to work a little more with a file to completely remove all burrs and irregularities.

At the next stage of work, you need to make the rails of the blade and the cutting edge, as well as drill two holes in the handle of the ax. Then we carry out the standard hardening of the blade and make a wooden handle, the halves of which are connected together using glue and metal rivets.
