For this interesting homemade product you will need a large trapezoidal blade, two hardwood boards (for making the knife body), as well as paper templates printed on the printer, which will create an enlarged copy of the original Stanley knife.
The main stages of work
First of all, you need to transfer the knife body template to two prepared wooden blanks - 50 mm thick boards. Then we cut out the details on the band saw (you can also use a conventional jigsaw).
Next, we glue the wooden blanks sawn according to the template using double-sided tape, and then process them on a grinding machine. At the next stage, using patterns, we draw patterns on the surface, as on the original Stanley knife, and we proceed to the machining.
First, we process the workpieces using a grinder with a special wood disc, which is often used in the process of creating wooden sculptures. After that, we grind the workpieces and cut out the patterns on the surface using a hand milling cutter.
Finishing touch
Then we glue thin rails to the surface of the wooden case, exactly simulating the model of the original knife. At the last stage, we make a "trigger" for the blade and select a landing "nest" under it. In the tail of the knife handle we drill a hole.
