Having made this simple side handle with your own hands (and from improvised materials), you can refuse to buy an angular sleeve for a drill, and also greatly simplify your work when grinding different parts at an angle. In general, homemade work is very useful, so we won’t waste time talking and get to work right away.
Of the basic materials for work, you will need: a wooden handle (for example, you can take it from an old chisel or file), a small piece of a steel tube, a bolt or stud, and a metal clamp with a fixing screw. In almost every home workshop, these materials are always at hand.
How to make a do-it-yourself side grip
We drill a hole in the tube, insert a hairpin or bolt into it and scald it. If you use a bolt, then the hat will need to be cut off with a grinder. Then cut the tube to the desired size and cut along. The cut place is processed with a file to remove burrs.
We put the resulting part on the flexible shaft of the drill and fix it with a clamp. In the next step, it remains only to attach a wooden handle. We drill the central hole to the desired diameter, cut the thread, then fill it with glue and screw in the hairpin or bolt.
The result is a home-made side handle, holding on to which, it is much more convenient to grind the surface. For a detailed process of making this homemade product, see the video on the website.
