Screen on battery

In old houses, batteries are often found that are not covered by anything and confuse with their "nudity" both apartment owners and guests. They sadly hang under the windowsill, and the maximum that the hosts have enough imagination is to paint with colored enamel. But such a tin monster, albeit a cheerful color, does not please the eye. Of course, you can order a screen or box in any design company, but it will naturally cost a lot of money. In the article I will give an example of how you can diversify your interior, and make a very original work of art out of a battery without losing heat. Everything is so simple that you yourself will be surprised at the sleight of hand.

So, to get started, you and I need to choose a frame without glass that will fit the size of your battery. It is not necessary to fly on the wings of enthusiasm into a chain of construction hypermarkets, it is quite possible that your grandmother in the attic has a very suitable copy dusting around. So you need to go with an audit on the grandmother's treasured chests and closets. Once you have found the frame, consider that the job is already 50% done.
In addition to the frame, you and I will still need: a burlap or any fabric of dense structure (2.5 times the area of the frame), a ball of thread, buttons, four hooks with self-tapping screws at the end and two chains about 10-15 cm in size, beads (diameter corresponds to the thickness of the thread), ribbons and other items to decorate the frame to your taste. All this can be safely bought at any store around the corner or easily found at home.
1. Take the fabric (burlap) and cut it into two rectangles which are slightly larger (about 3-4 cm) than the edges of our frame. In one of the pieces, cut a round hole to the size of the desired "heat catcher", in the center.
2. Next, we make incisions in the fabric of the same length as the sun's rays towards the edges of the frame. We got flaps, bending which we get a hole in the fabric, larger in diameter, but with peculiar valves around the perimeter of the circle. We need to fix them in the manner of slippers that hold the belt in trousers and thread a thread through the resulting holes, tying it into a vicious circle.

3. As a result, we got a round frame stretched with a fabric (well, or fabric stretched with a round frame, as you like). We fix a thread on it with beads strung (in advance !!!) and begin our “spider business”. The weaving method is shown in the diagram.
4. Closer to the center, we begin to entangle the thread in a chaotic manner, leaving beads in some sectors of the catcher. It is absolutely necessary to leave a round hole in the center of the catcher, which we make by weaving into the catcher in the center of the round frame, prepared and braided in advance, from a wire of arbitrary diameter. Thus, when approaching the center, we simply loop around the perimeter of this braided ring, moving away closer or farther from it in the weave pattern.

5. It only seems complicated, once you start you will immediately realize that even a child can cope with this simple pattern. All threads are preferably kept in light tension.
6. We have a practically finished screen, we just need to decide whether you want to leave it transparent so that the heat from the battery passes through it in the winter, or to close the catcher behind with a second piece of cloth (burlap) in order to completely close the battery. To do this, we attach a solid layer on the back of the frame, like a background, to the buttons.

7. The ultimate design. The frame can be decorated with threads, ribbons, badges, old brooches or broken and incomplete earrings can be attached to the fabric. Everything that your imagination will be ready for will find a place on this screen.

8. Now we screw the hooks into the windowsill and in the upper corners of the frame and hang our work of art on a chain of the length you need.
9. Done! You are an unsurpassed master of design!

Live creatively and do not stop surprising your guests with fashionable and cool ideas!
